There are many Bible verses about friends. I think God knew that we, as social beings, would need a lot of guidance in this area. Good friends can help us succeed in life and become closer to God. Bad friends can drag us down and lead us away from Him. Good friendships can be very complex relationships and it is sometimes hard to maintain them. I love my friends. But, in life friends end up turning their back on you. It takes time to actually know who your real friends are. My real friends are the ones that trust me and I can trust them too. Real friends are when they are there for you no matter what and do not turn their back on you. Real friends are when they are mad at you, they come up to you to solve things instead of going to someone else and try to blame everything at you and make a big problem about it. No one else needs to know each others business. If they are your friends, they will act like friends. I have a lot of friends but only a few I consider my true best friends. They know exactly who they are and I appreciate them for everything and for hearing me out. I also thank God for helping me choose my friends and dragging the bad ones away from me.
Proverbs 18:24 "A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."
Proverbs 17:7 "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity."
John 15:12-15 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you."
Proverbs 13:20 "Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm."
Proverbs 16:28 "A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends."
I love this one. Very insightful.
